Gold for Davies but Disappointment for Foster on Final Day

Cameron: Over the Moon
The swimming events at the Commonwealth Games have concluded on the sixth and final day with gold for David 'Dave' Davies but disappointment for Mark Foster.
Welsh distance specialist Davies finished his 1500m nearly 12 seconds ahead of Canadian Andrew Hurd in second and ambitiously named South African Hercules Prinsloo in third.
Foster, 127, finished fourth in the 50m freestyle, nearly half a second behind Roland Schoeman from South Africa, who set a new games record on his way to winning gold.
The Australian men had to wait until the final event of the competition to win their first gold. Their 4 x 100m medley relay team surged to victory, setting a new Games Record in the process, ahead of the English in second and Scotland in third.
In the previous event the Australian women's team had set a new World Record in their 4x100m medley relay, making up for missing out on a similar achievement in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay. The English team of Mel Marshall, Kate Haywood, Terri Dunning and Fran Halsall finished in second.
Cook, McClatchey and Tait Make Theirs a Double

Monster: Over the Moon
Day five of the Commonwealth Games has seen Chris 'Cookie' Cook, Caitlin 'Catch Me' McClatchey and Gregor 'No Nickname Required' Tait all win their second gold medals.
Cook completed his golden double in the 50m breaststroke, with Darren Mew finishing just behind to make in England 4 - Scotland 2 in the Swimming One-Two Contest™.
Soon after, Liam Tancock set a new British and games record in the 100m backstroke with a time of 54.53. This was quickly followed by a strong finish from McClatchey to see her victorious in the 400m freestyle, with England's Jo Jackson coming in second.
McClatchey's Scottish team-mate Gregor Tait then put his third place in the 100m backstoke behind him and stormed to gold in the 200m IM.
Away from the home nations, Leisel Jones destroyed her own World Record in the 100m breaststroke to win gold for Australia. Her team-mates narrowly missed out on their own World Record in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay.
Scots Pull One Back With One-Two in 400m Individual Medley

Arizona: Over the Moon
Determined Scottish swimmers have succeeded in moving closer to England in the Swimming One-Two Contest™ on the fourth day of the Commonwealth Games.
Gold and silver for the Scottish duo of David Carry and Euan Dale in the 400m individual medley means that the score is now England 3 - Scotland 2 with only two days remaining.
Other highlights for the home nations included a gold for Arizona's Simon 'Burn It' Burnett in the 100m freestyle. His time of 48.57 was a new British record and nearly three-quarters of a second ahead of South Africa's Ryk Neethling and Roland Schoeman.
Burnett's England team-mate, Rebecca 'The Other Cookie' Cooke was also celebrating after successfully defending her Commonwealth title in the famously easy 800m freestyle.
England Go Three-One Up in One-Two Contest

Lenton: Over the Moon
The third day at the Commonwealth Games has produced another one-two for England.
Chris 'Cookie' Cook won gold in the 100m breaststroke with silver going to thoroughly good bloke James 'Gibbo' Gibson, who sportingly bounded over the lane ropes to be the first to congratulate his friend and team-mate.
Earlier in the day Gregor Tait won Scotland's third gold medal in the 200m backstroke. His time of 1:58.65 was a new games record and it is the first time Scotland have won three golds in a Commonwealth pool since the invention of chlorination.
In the 4 x 200m freestyle relay, the England team of Simon Burnett, Alex Scotcher, Dean Milwain and Ross Davenport won gold, with silver for Scotland and Australia third.
Davenport and Clay Cause Upsets to Win Gold for England

Queen: Over the Moon
Ross Davenport and Matthew Clay both upset the pre-race favourites to take gold on the second day of competition at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Clay beat fellow Englishman, and World Championship medallist, Liam Tancock into silver in the 50m backstroke, with less than a third of a second separating first from fourth.
An English one-two was then repeated in the 200m freestyle final with Clay's Bath team-mate Davenport just touching out Arizona-based British record holder Simon Burnett.
There was disappointment in the 50m butterfly semi-finals with Mark Foster, 116, failing to qualify for the final in what he promises will be his final Commonwealths.
Oh Power of Scotland! Gold for McClatchey and Carry

Gibson: Over the Moon
Scottish swimmers have lead the way on the first day of the Commonwealth Games.
In the first final of the games, Caitlin 'Catch Me' McClatchey won gold in the 200m freestyle, ahead of Australian favourite Libby Lenton and England's Mel Marshall.
This success was then replicated in the 400m free with David Carry beating 1500m specialist and shadow home secretary David Davies, who won bronze for Wales.
English hopes of success remain high after Liam Tancock qualified fastest for the final of the 50m backstroke. His time of 24.84 was a new British record, and only four one hundredths of a second slower than the world record.
